The firebrand figure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sher Afzal Marwat opposed the practice of polygamy, stating that it is an injustice to the women.
He recently appeared on a podcast, where he shared a compelling anecdote from his own life.
"In our marriage, after five or six years without children, my wife suggested I take a second wife to bear a son," Marwat revealed.
"While this is a common practice in our tradition, I could not bring myself to do it. I requested time to consider her suggestion, but ultimately, I told her I would not bring another woman into our marriage solely for this reason,” he added.
The PTI leader furthered on, "For your life partner, there is nothing worse than bringing another woman into the marriage just because you do not have children,"
"She has only one life, and she leaves everything behind to live in your house," he maintained.
Sher Afzal Marwat shared his experience of battling depression alone, describing a period when he found it difficult to smile. However, he found unexpected relief after watching prank videos by YouTuber Nadir Ali.
According to him, the joy and laughter he experienced helped alleviate his mental stress.
When asked about how he handles criticism, Marwat explained that he used to be easily offended due to his short temper and intolerance for negativity.
However, the outspoken politician has adopted a new approach, crediting his leader, Imran Khan, for advising him to ignore his critics.
