Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi has claimed that he was 'offered' Rs1 billion to support proposed constitutional amendments.

The government is reportedly summoned NA session on October 18 for the presentation of the proposed constitutional amendment.

"I was offered Rs400 million to back the constitutional amendments. They were even willing to offer Rs800 million or more—up to Rs1 billion. But I took an oath during the elections to always speak the truth, and I swore allegiance to Imran Khan," Iqbal Afridi claimed in his video message.

"I dismiss their money and proposals. I am a soldier of Khan. I have supported Imran Khan’s ideology since 1997-98, standing by him through countless sacrifices for real change."

The lawmaker further said his loyalty to the former prime minister is permanent and he will not sell himself, as he did not during the 'regime change'.

Meanwhile, lawyers from across Pakistan have united in opposition to proposed constitutional amendments, threatening a nationwide protest movement if the government proceeds with the changes.

At an All Pakistan Lawyers Convention hosted by the Karachi Bar Association, leading figures from the legal community declared the proposed amendments unconstitutional and vowed to launch a countrywide movement against them.
