A video of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed candidate Salman Akram Raja taking oath on the Holy Quran to remain loyal to party founder Imran Khan has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the renowned lawyer, who is contesting the Feb 8 elections from a National Assembly constituency in Lahore (NA-128), reaffirmed allegience to the party, stating, “Upon being elected to parliament, I will remain a member of the PTI."
"I cannot even imagine that I would betray PTI or the founder of PTI," he continued.
Salman clarified that speculations about PTI candidates switching to other parties after winning are baseless and incorrect.
He strongly rejected the Election Commission of Pakistan's assertion that PTI candidates are independent, stating that “I clearly identified myself as a PTI candidate in my nomination papers and submitted the party's issued ticket to the Returning Officer (RO).”
He urged all candidates to take a similar oath on the Holy Quran to emphasise their loyalty to the party's founder and PTI.
Salman Akram Raja said that they would not fall to any temptations or threats and remain steadfast in their commitment to the party.
