The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has transferred the Iddat case, the alleged un-Islamic Nikkah of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, to another district session court.

The case was transferred after District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand wrote a letter to the IHC registrar, requesting the transfer of the case as Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka was not satisfied with the Judge.

In the letter. Judge Arjumand said it would not be appropriate for him to hear the case and announce the verdict amid Maneka's reservations.

The judge also complained about Maneka Khawar and his counsel’s attempts to create a disturbance in the hearing.

In the last hearing on May 29, Maneka during the hearing expressed dissatisfaction with the Judge, saying “I don’t want you deciding this case.”

The same day Maneka was beaten by the PTI lawyers for hurling abuses at the former prime minister during the hearing.

However, the registrar accepted his request and transferred the case to Additional and Session Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka.

In January, Maneka Khawar had approached Islamabad, terming Bushra and Imran’s nikkah as fraudulent.

Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan were convicted by the trial court for seven years with a fine of Rs500,000.
