Islamabad High Court judges receive suspicious letters; case registered

In a worrisome development, reports have surfaced indicating that eight judges from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) have received potentially hazardous letters, sparking security concerns within the judicial circle.

According to sources within the judiciary, upon opening the letters, staff members of two judges discovered an unidentified powder enclosed within. The nature of this substance remains unclear, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities.

A specialized team from the Islamabad Police quickly responded to the situation, converging on the Islamabad High Court premises to conduct a thorough investigation. Their current focus involves examining the contents of the letters and analyzing the mysterious powder to determine its composition.

Notably, these letters purportedly contained a menacing signature, allegedly attributed to a woman named Resham, identified as the wife of Waqar Hussain.

In response to the alarming incident, the Islamabad High Court has taken swift action, summoning the inspector general of the Islamabad police and the deputy inspector general (DIG) of security to address the breach in security protocols.

The federal police force has launched a comprehensive inquiry into the matter, aiming to trace the origin of the letters and ascertain any potential risks posed to the judges' safety. Forensic experts have been dispatched to the court premises to meticulously analyze the suspicious powder and provide valuable insights into its nature.

Sources indicate that the Islamabad DIG (security) has referred the case to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), with plans to register a formal complaint under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Furthermore, forensic experts have taken custody of all letters and related items dispatched through the courier service, ensuring thorough examination of the evidence by the CTD.
