Security forces are in the final stages of an operation against terrorists who attacked the Jafar Express, with a significant number of hostages, including women and children, successfully rescued, according to security sources.

Earlier, 190 passengers were safely evacuated as part of the ongoing rescue efforts.

Security personnel conducted the clearance operation with extreme caution and expertise to ensure the safety of civilians.

Authorities are currently assessing the number of casualties resulting from the attack.

Meanwhile, all terrorists involved in the incident have been neutralised, security sources confirmed.

Security sources have confirmed that the perpetrators of the deadly attack on the Jaffar Express were in contact with their mastermind in Afghanistan.

The assault unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when armed gunmen ambushed the train in a remote, mountainous region of the province. The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) swiftly claimed responsibility for the attack, marking another act of violence linked to the group.

According to security officials, the attackers first detonated explosives on the railway track, forcing the train to stop. They then opened fire, killing the driver and several passengers.

Railway authorities reported that mobile networks were down in the area, complicating communication efforts during the crisis.
