Jamat-e-Islami will emerge as the most favourite political party in Karachi in the general election 2024 set to be held on February 8 (Tomorrow), said experts.
While talking to Geo News, senior journalists including Hamid Mir, Shahzaib Khanzada, Shehzad Iqbal, Sohail Waraich and Irshad Bhatti encouraged the political activities and current performance of Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.
Mir noted that the result of a survey conducted by Plus Consultant showed JI on top of the list from some constituencies of the provincial assembly. However, the current spell of rain also soared their popularity among the people as netizens shared so many posts for them.
Co-host Shahzeb Khanzada said that according to the polls results of the local body’s elections, the priority of residents of Karachi was to elect JI, not PTI.
Senior analyst and columnist Mazhar Abbas said that the recent rain in Karachi will benefit JI and Jamaat-e-Islami, the party changed its strategy two or three years ago and focused on Karachi.
He added many other renowned leaders from JI are contesting the election, but at the time the entire politics of the party revolved around Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.
According to Irshad Bhatti Naeem was prevented from being a mayor of Karachi rigging and Murtaza Wahab was elected as the mayor despite being in the minority.
It is pertinent to mention that Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman is contesting elections from two constituencies of the National Assembly.
Sohail Waraich said JI changed its strategy as they showed local leaders in the campaign instead of the top brass of the party. He termed this as a big change in their strategy which brought out the 'Son of Soil' to the front.
