Karachi's administrative issues to be addressed via complaint portal

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led Sindh government has announced the launch of a dedicated portal to address administrative issues such as sewerage, road damage, and city cleanliness in Karachi.

This initiative would provide a platform for citizens to report complaints online about their respective areas and stay updated on the authorities’ efforts to tackle various challenges in the city.

However, the portal has not yet been operationalised.

The announcement was made in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah regarding Karachi’s issue, where bigwigs of metropolitan management, including the mayor Karachi, commissioner Karachi, and assistant commissioners, were directed to review the citizen’s complaint on the portal, resolve it and share an update on it.

The move is part of a broader strategy to improve governance and enhance the quality of life for Karachiiets.

In the meeting, CM Shah also instructed the government officials to monitor issues regarding over-flowing drains, broken and choked sewerage lines, cleaning, and illegal parking problems in the city. 

Shah observed that ongoing road construction in three districts was causing difficulties for residents, despite many roads being recently built.

Upon learning that local municipalities had authorised road-cutting permits within their areas, he determined that only the mayor of Karachi and the commissioner would now have the authority to grant road-cutting permissions.

Moreover, the Chief Minister directed authorities to enhance security, particularly in markets, as crowds surge due to Eid shopping. 

He also instructed officials to ensure the availability of streetlights and implement effective traffic management measures to facilitate citizens during the Eid shopping season.
