Karachi’s Civil Hospital has become the first public hospital to receive international SafeCare certification for its Children's Emergency Room.

SafeCare certification is an endorsement that a health facility has met certain internationally recognised quality and safety standards for patient care.

The SafeCare certification is an initiative of PharmAccess (Netherlands), Joint Commission International (JCI), and COHSASA, setting internationally accredited standards designed to enhance healthcare quality.

The recognition of Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital’s Children’s Emergency Room underscores the commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services.

The Children's Emergency Room operates under the public-private partnership initiative of the Sindh government and is functionalised under a non-governmental organisation.

The ward treats two million children annually and provides 24/7 free service to children.

According to the press release issued by the provincial government, the ward has facilities that meet global conditions for treating children.

In 2022, a private hospital in Sindh also received this certificate for their good services in children's care.
