Karachi University to award honorary PhD degree to Iranian President

The University of Karachi has decided to confer a doctorate of philosophy (PhD) on Iranian President Syyed Ebrahim Raisi on the occasion of his visit to Pakistan.
Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori recommended awarding honorary PhD to the Iranian president during his visit to the metropolis.
A special meeting of the syndicate on Saturday unanimously approved awarding Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa), in the Faculty of Islamic Studies to the Iranian head of state, according to Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Iraqi.
A special ceremony to distribute honorary certificates will be organised on campus, he added.
President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Islamabad today amid tight security and is scheduled to reach Karachi on April 23.
The Sindh government has announced a public holiday for Tuesday due to the high-profile visit to facilitate authorities to implement stringent security measures and avoid any untoward incident.
An Iranian delegation visited Karachi beforehand to assess security measures for the President's visit.
President Raisi is the first head of state to visit Pakistan after the formation of the new government and his first foreign visit since Iran's direct attack on Israel.
