Kohistan scandal: Dumper driver strikes Rs4.05 billion plea bargain

The arrested dumper driver, Mumtaz, involved in the Kohistan scandal, has reached a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for PKR 4.05 billion.
The plea bargain was approved by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Zafar, following which the accused was released.
According to NAB, Mumtaz, a dumper driver, was found to have transferred significant sums of money through his accounts during investigations. In addition, assets worth billions of rupees were uncovered.
Following the court’s approval of the plea bargain, Mumtaz has been released from custody.
NAB officials said that several other accused persons in the Kohistan corruption case have also filed plea bargain applications.
They clarified that the recovered amount represents only a portion of the total scam, while efforts are underway to recover more funds.
So far, over 36 accused have been arrested, while assets worth Rs30 billion have been sealed and bank accounts frozen as part of the ongoing investigation.
