Lightning strikes claim eight lives in Punjab

At least eight people were killed in Punjab in different incidents of lightning strikes during torrential rain and thunderstorms in several cities in the province.
The incidents took place in the five districts of Pakistan's largest province and took the lives of eight, including women and children.
According to rescue sources, three incidents of lightning strikes occurred in Rahim Yar Khan, where two children died in Basti Khawar, one person was killed in Thal Hasan, and a husband and wife died in Basti Khokhran Feroza.
Another incident of thunderstroke unfolded in Khairpur of Bhawalnagar, leaving a woman killed, while Chak 113 of the same area witnessed the death of the 8-year-old boy.
Rescuers further said that the lightning strikes claimed a woman’s life in Lodhra as well.
On the other hand, three people were killed by lightning strikes in Balochistan, where 20 districts have been witnessing rain since the new spell of heavy rain entered the province on Thursday night and continued till late Friday.
According to the police, three were killed when lightning with heavy rain struck the Surab area, Kalat, and Pishin districts.
