The Punjab government on Sunday announced to shut down primary schools in Lahore for the succeeding week amid persistent hazardous level of smog in the provincial capital..
Meanwhile, the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department has issued a new alert for a spell of smog expected to impact Lahore within the next 24 hours.
A spokesperson for the department stated that the anticipated smog is attributed to winds from India blowing at speeds of 4 to 8 kilometers per hour toward the city. As a result, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is predicted to deteriorate significantly.
Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, including minimizing outdoor activities and wearing masks when venturing outside for essential tasks.
