Renowned Pakistani scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil has earned praise from netizens for serving Pakistani products at a dinner hosted for prominent Indian cleric, Dr Zakir Naik.
The 58-year-old globally celebrated figure reached Mr Jamil's residence in Lahore last night to meet him.
The dinner meeting excluded Israeli products, aligning with the boycott movement in many Muslim countries, including Pakistan.
The boycott targets products allegedly funding genocide in Gaza, where thousands of people have been killed by Israel.
The thoughtful gesture was evident in pictures shared on the cleric's Instagram page.
Notably, multinational corporations like Pepsi and Coca-Cola face accusations of supporting Israel.
Critics argue that these companies, along with others, contribute to Israel's economy, indirectly funding its military actions against innocent Palestinians.
The boycott movement extends to companies operating in illegal settlements, violating international law and human rights.
The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement advocates for freedom, justice, and equality. It urges consumers to refrain from engaging with Israel and companies involved in human rights violations in Gaza.
Over 42,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed by the Israeli military since October 7, 2023.
As many as 98,000 people have been injured in the Israeli attacks in the besieged enclave, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The Israeli war has left vast tracts of Gaza in ruins, with a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Israel stands accused of genocide, and the international community continues to call for an end to the violence.
