Former PML-N leader Miftah Ismail, who was recently acquitted in an anti-graft case alongside ex-PML-N stalwart Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, broke down in tears as he recounted the ordeal of a raid on his residence by anti-corruption authorities under the previous PTI government, during which his wife faced alleged misconduct.
The political duo, along with others, received a clean chit on Tuesday from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) reference.
Speaking on a private TV talk show, Miftah reflected on his acquittal in the famous LNG scandal, saying that "even though it was a momentous occasion, but for me, it is a bitter day."
The former finance minister stated that he could recount all the memories of the raid on his house when his wife was mistreated.
However, he was unable to continue and began sobbing while mentioning the ordeal his family went through.
During the interview, he urged authorities to hold accountable those responsible for instigating a false corruption case, which had subjected him and his family to suffering and distress.

Miftah and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were charged with awarding an LNG import contract in 2015 at exorbitant prices, resulting in substantial financial losses for the national treasury.
During the hearing in the accountability court, NAB told AC Judge Nasir Javed Rana that the anti-graft authority was withdrawing the reference against the former prime minister and others.
