Police recovered Intezar Panjutha, the focal person for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the early hours of Sunday in Attock, Punjab, following his reported abduction.
According to authorities, Panjutha was reportedly left by his alleged abductors within the jurisdiction of Hassan Abdal Police Station.
A police spokesperson stated that a suspicious vehicle traveling from Islamabad toward Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been signaled to stop on GT Road.
When the vehicle did not comply, police set up a blockade, prompting the abductors to flee and abandon both the vehicle and Panjutha.
Upon rescue, Panjutha, whose hands and feet were bound, was untied, given water, and moved to a safe location.
Law enforcement officials have established a search operation in the area to apprehend the suspects.
Earlier, Attorney-General for Pakistan, Mansoor Awan, assured the Islamabad High Court that Panjutha would be located within 24 hours.
During a court hearing regarding Panjutha’s recovery, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq warned that the AGP would need to appear again if Panjutha was not found within the promised timeframe.
