Parts of Karachi received moderate to heavy rain as predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The Met department, in its weather advisory, said a new monsoon system reached near Sindh’s Tharparkar and India’s Rann of Kutch.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz forecasted up to 200mm rain in Karachi and 300mm downpours in Hyderabad from August 29 to 31.

The temperature would remain low, ranging between 29°C to 32°C in the upcoming three days, PMD wrote on its website.

However, the winds were blowing from the northwest direction at a speed of 18 kilometres per hour with 88 percent humidity.

On the other hand, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an urban flooding warning for Karachi and Hyderabad.

The megapolis has been receiving moderate to heavy rains for two days, with the highest showers of 20mm recorded in Karachi’s central district.
