The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has cleared former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Nawaz Sharif of any wrongdoing in the Toshakhana vehicles case.

In a recent development concerning the case, which also involves President Asif Ali Zardari, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, and Senate chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, NAB requested Nawaz Sharif's exoneration in the accountability court on Wednesday.

Presenting a comprehensive report to the court, NAB detailed its investigation into Nawaz Sharif's involvement.

According to the report, the Saudi government gifted a vehicle to Nawaz Sharif in 1997 during his tenure as prime minister. Nawaz Sharif subsequently surrendered the vehicle to Toshakhana, where it later became part of the federal transport pool.

The report highlighted that in 2008, during Yousaf Raza Gillani's prime ministership, he offered to sell the vehicle to Nawaz Sharif. Notably, Nawaz Sharif acquired the vehicle from the federal transport pool, not directly from Toshakhana, and there was no involvement of any fake bank accounts in the transaction.

Since the vehicle was not part of Toshakhana at the time of purchase, NAB concluded that Nawaz Sharif should be absolved of any charges related to the case.
