The former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Friday invited all political parties to form a coalition government as the unconfirmed and unofficial results, show no single party with a clear mandate.
The speech which was being claimed as a victory speech turned out to be an "appeal" from the PML-N supremo.
Addressing party workers at PML-N's central secretariat in Model Town, flanked by Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, elder Sharif claimed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has emerged as the largest single party after the 2024 February 8 elections.
Sharif invited all the people, who had been elected by the masses including independent candidates to join hands with the PML-N for the betterment of the country.
We respect the mandate of the people and parties, that have been elected by the masses, Sharif said and invited political parties to sit together and form a coalition government so that the country can be put back on track.
Pakistan cannot bear any other chaos, the former premier said.
Sharif said he has tasked Shehbaz Sharif to meet Asif Ali Zardari, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Fazlur Rehman to hold talks to finalize the matter of coalition government.
The PML-N supremo also took endorsement from the party workers.
Earlier, Prime ministerial candidate and former premier Nawaz Sharif was declared winner in the National Assembly constituency NA-130 (Lahore), according to unofficial results announced on Friday morning.
The PML-N chief bagged 171,024 votes against former PTI minister and independent candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid’s 115,043.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Nawaz faced defeat against independent candidate Shahzada Gastasap in NA-15 Mansehra.
