The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically denied the viral notification circulating on social media regarding a public holiday on September 6 to mark Defence Day.
In a statement issued by the information ministry, it was declared that the notification was entirely fake.
"Spreading such misinformation is not only immoral and illegal but also an insult to the nation," it added.
The ministry said that it is everyone's responsibility to reject such irresponsible behaviour and refrain from sharing unverified information.
The clarification came after a false notification went viral on social media, claiming that the government had announced a public holiday on Friday to commemorate Defence Day.
Defence and Matryrs’ Day is observed every year on September 6th in remembrance of the 1965 Indo-Pak War, when Indian forces crossed the international border and launched an attack on Pakistan.
However, Pakistan’s Armed Forces managed to foil the Indian attack with courage and resolve.
