In a groundbreaking move, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a national initiative to promote organ donation in Pakistan.

As part of the project, individuals who register as organ donors will have a special logo printed on their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).

On the occasion of International Identity Day, PM Sharif highlighted the importance of organ donation, calling it an "act of kindness that gives a new chance of life to those in need".

“I encourage all citizens to participate in this initiative and become part of a life-saving community," he urged.

The special logo on donor ID cards will serve as a symbol of their commitment to giving the gift of life.

“Individuals who voluntarily register themselves as organ donors will have a special, exclusive logo printed on their Computerised National Identity Cards, symbolising their commitment to giving the gift of life,” the premier said.

Younger Sharif said identity is not "merely a matter of recognition, but a cornerstone of inclusion, representation, and access to essential services”.

The initiative aims to promote a culture of organ donation in Pakistan, where individuals can make a difference by giving others a second chance at life.

By honouring organ donors with a special logo on their CNICs, the government seeks to encourage more people to come forward and register as donors.
