The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has successfully disposed of more than 142,816 tonnes of animal waste and sacrificial remains during its Eid-ul-Azha sanitation operation.

According to an official statement issued by the board, approximately 64,122 tonnes of sacrificial waste and 78,694 tonnes of garbage and animal remains were transported to landfill sites for disposal.

Authorities stated that nine large trenches were prepared at the landfill site and GTS Sharafi to facilitate the burial and disposal process during the Eid operation.

In addition, a total of 99 collection points were established across the city to ensure the smooth collection and transportation of waste materials.

As part of the post-cleaning measures, major roads and highways in the city were washed with rose water to minimise unpleasant odours and improve environmental conditions.

The sanitation campaign also included the spraying of disinfectants, lime spreading and fumigation to maintain hygiene standards and prevent the spread of bacteria and disease.

Officials confirmed that all collection points are being cleared regularly, followed by disinfectant spraying and lime treatment.

The board further stated that complaints received through the 1128 helpline, mobile application and WhatsApp services were addressed promptly to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services throughout the Eid holidays.
