Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s move to extend its sovereignty over the occupied West Bank through a proposed legislation approved by the Knesset on Wednesday. Islamabad stated that these actions represent a clear breach of international law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.

The Israeli Knesset has passed a proposal paving the way for the annexation of the occupied West Bank, despite international law strictly prohibiting such actions. The move has drawn strong condemnation from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, who termed it a blatant violation of the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people.

In another statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the renewed assaults by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza, which have led to the loss of many civilian lives.

These actions, the statement noted, stand in stark contradiction to the spirit of the peace accord signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, witnessed by leaders from the Muslim and Arab world, the United States, Europe, and the United Nations.

Pakistan has called on the international community to take immediate and effective steps to halt these violations, ensure the full enforcement of the ceasefire, and safeguard the lives and rights of Palestinian civilians.

The statement emphasized that such unlawful and provocative measures threaten regional peace and stability. Pakistan urged the international community to take swift and concrete steps to stop these illegal actions and to hold the Israeli authorities accountable for their persistent violations of international norms.

Pakistan expressed its resolve to work with regional and global partners to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination.

The country reiterated its unwavering backing for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
