A former Punjab Assembly lawmaker has petitioned the Lahore High Court seeking directives for the federal government to send an Indian Sikh woman, who converted to Islam and married a local man, back to her home country.

An ex-MPA Mahinder Pall Singh filed the petition, stating that the case of Indian citizen Sarbajeet Kaur—who arrived in Pakistan and later married a resident of Nankana Sahib—has raised serious concerns.

He said that her disappearance after entering the country and her subsequent marriage could indicate that she might be an Indian spy.

The petitioner claimed that although Kaur has a criminal background, Indian authorities still allowed her to travel, which he believes further fuels suspicion of her possible role as a spy.

Singh maintained that Kaur’s continued stay in Pakistan after the expiry of her single-entry pilgrimage visa is unlawful and poses risks to national security. He has asked the court to order security agencies to take her into custody and conduct a thorough investigation. Following the probe, he seeks directives for her immediate deportation.

An IHC bench is expected hear the matter today (Thursday).
