ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed on Friday demanded the release of PTI Founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail and advocated for the allocation of reserved seats to the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
Following the February 8 elections, candidates supported by the PTI joined the SIC after contesting as independents.
Addressing the Senate, Mushahid Hussain reflected on his past calls for the release of various political figures under previous administrations, including Asif Zardari, Yousuf Gilani, Javed Hashmi, and Nawaz Sharif.
He emphasized the importance of releasing the PTI founder, a former prime minister, whom he described as a political detainee.
Asserting that a "new chapter" has commenced after the recent elections, he stressed the necessity for a reconciliatory approach. He advocated for inclusivity and proposed a general amnesty, citing previous instances such as the amnesty granted to the TTP despite their atrocities.
Additionally, Senator Mushahid underscored the rightful claim of the PTI to reserved seats and urged against their deprivation. He also called for the recovery of all missing persons nationwide.
