The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has raised concerns over Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s announcement to provide electric buses to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), formally approaching the AJK Election Commission over the matter.

According to details, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari met Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal after the Punjab government announced the donation of 10 electric buses to AJK.

Bukhari urged the Election Commission to take notice of the buses, which feature images of Maryam Nawaz, alleging that public funds from Punjab were being used as a form of political inducement to influence voters ahead of the elections.

He argued that the move violated election rules because it was carried out after the election schedule had been announced.

He also questioned why buses purchased with taxpayers’ money carried the chief minister’s photograph, asking whether they had been funded from her personal account.

The complaint follows Maryam Nawaz’s announcement at election rallies that Punjab would gift 10 modern electric buses to Azad Kashmir.

The buses were later dispatched on her instructions and were branded with her photograph alongside the slogan, “A Gift for Azad Kashmir.”
