PTI-backed independent candidates take lead in NA with 95 seats

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released unofficial complete results of 264 National Assembly seats out of 265.
According to the unofficial results received from electoral watchdog, independent candidates were leading with 95 seats followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ (PML-N) 79 seats.
The Pakistan People's Party has bagged fifty-four seats followed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan 17 seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Q and JUI (P) four seats each and two seats each by Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and Balochistan National Party.
One seat each was won by Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, Pashtoonkhwa National Awami Party-Pakistan, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party and PML-Z. Independents have secured 101 seats.
The result of one seat NA-8 was postponed due to the death of a candidate while the election has been withheld in one constituency NA-88 where re-polling will be held on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan has directed a re-polling at 53 polling stations in three constituencies of national and provincial assemblies on Thursday.
According to an ECP spokesman, the commission has withheld the results in NA-88 Khushab, PS-18 Ghotki-I, and PK-90 Kohat-I constituencies due to the wastage of polling materials.
The results of these constituencies will be announced after 15th of this month.
The Commission ordered re-polling in 26 polling stations of NA-88, following the burning of polling material by a crowd at the Returning Officer’s office.
