ISLAMABAD: A Norway-based political party, Partiet Sentrum, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to work for the release of Imran Khan at the international level.

In a statement on X, center-left Partiet Sentrum wrote that both political parties will work together in areas like human rights, environmental issues, and political ethics.

“We look forward to this collaboration and learning from each other,” the party spokesperson added.

Former prime minister Imran Khan’s aide Shahbaz Gill represented PTI during the signing ceremony held in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The Norwegian party was represented by a human rights lawyer and its chairman Geir Lippestad.

Geir Lippestad, in a video statement, said “Our party is aware of human rights violations in Pakistan including the imprisonment of Imran Khan.” “The Supreme Court of Pakistan is no longer independent and is under political control. Journalists, women, and other innocent people are in jail,” the party chairman said.

Partiet Sentrum chief announced raising an awareness campaign in Norway and Scandinavia and fight for human rights in Pakistan. “I will highlight Imran Khan’s case and others imprisoned in Pakistan for their freedom.”
