The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) top brass and lawmakers have decided to go on hunger strike today (July 23) to protest the arrests of its leaders, sources said.

According to sources, PTI MANs will set up their hunger strike camp outside the parliament house at 3:00pm. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub will kick start the campaign.

Party chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Asad Qaisar and other members will also participate in the hunger strike.

As per the sources, the demonstrators will also raise the issue of the prolonged incarceration of party founder Imran Khan during the protest.

The informers further said the PTI leaders are expected to expend protests and hunger strikes if their demands are not considered.

The decision came after the arrest of Information Secretary Raoof Hassan by capital police on Monday from inside the party’s secretariat in Islamabad.

According to the police, Hassan and other PTI members were suspects of anti-Pakistan propaganda and spreading disinformation against the country.

Earlier, the PTI founder also hinted at going on a hunger strike against the alleged ill-treatment in Adiala jail.
