Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seniour vice-president Maryam Nawaz has withdrew from National Assembly seat, NA-119 Lahore, as the latter is set to become the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab. 

In recently conculded polls on February 8, PML-N chief organiser had secured two seats from NA-119, and PP-159 of the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly, respectively.

As Maryam is the candidate for the CM Punjab post, she has to relinquish the NA seat, as per the constitution. 

According to sources, she has written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), withdrawing her NA-119 seat.

Nawaz Sharif's daughter had declared victorious from PP-159 where she had secured 23,598 votes against PTI-backed independent candidate Sharafat Ali Khan, who managed to gain 21,491 votes. 

However, she also beat PTI-backed independent candidate Shehzad Farooq in NA-119, after obtaining 83,855 votes, against Farooq’s 68,376 votes. 

On the other hand, Punjab's MPAs-elect will take oath in the inaugural session of the provincial legislature summoned by Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman today.

Speaker Sabtain Khan will administer the oath to the elected lawmakers and will mark their official induction into the parliament.
