Rail traffic disrupted after freight train derails near Okara

A freight train derailed near Cantt Railway Station in Okara on Saturday, with several bogies detaching and landing on GT Road, disrupting rail and road traffic.
Rescue teams, including railway officials and local police, reached the site promptly, with residents also participating in the efforts. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
According to railway officials, the train was en route from Lahore to Karachi when the incident occurred. The accident led to the suspension of train operations on the affected track, with repair teams working to restore it at the earliest.
This incident adds to a growing list of train derailments in Pakistan, often attributed to technical faults and infrastructure deterioration.
Railway authorities highlighted the urgent need for repairs and called for a comprehensive survey of tracks nationwide to enhance passenger safety and prevent further accidents.
