Armed robbers looted more than Rs5 million from the branch of a private bank in the Peerabad area of Orangi Town on Monday and fled the scene, police said.

According to details, the suspects escaped with cash estimated between Rs5 to Rs6 million.

Senior Superintendent of Police (West) Tariq Mastoi said that four to five suspects were involved in the robbery. “Three armed men entered the bank while two remained outside,” he said, adding that the assailants overpowered the security guard and snatched his pistol and rifle before looting cash from the counter.

Police officials said that the suspects, who arrived on motorcycles, locked the bank’s door before fleeing.

Law enforcement agencies and crime scene unit teams reached the site after being alerted. Authorities have begun collecting CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to identify and trace the suspects.
