A primary school educator in Sargodha has been suspended for allegedly inciting his colleagues against the government following PTI protests via social media during working hours.
In accordance with the Peeda Act of 2006, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Sargodha took immediate action to suspend Asad Hayat, who was serving at Primary School Chak Number 5 Rakh Dharema.
He faces charges of disseminating propaganda against state institutions, the current government, misusing social media, and engaging in misconduct by utilizing the internet during official hours.
The suspension order states, “The services of Asad Hayat, PST, Govt. Primary School Chak No.5 Rakh Dharema Sargodha are hereby suspended with immediate effect under the PEEDA Act-2006.”
The suspended teacher has been instructed to report to the relevant office without delay.
In a related incident in September, a show cause notice was issued to Abdul Karim, the Headmaster of Government Special Education Center Chichawatani in District Sahiwal, for making political comments on WhatsApp.
This notice was issued under Section 7(b) and Section 5(1)(a) of the Peeda Act, 2006. It indicated that a complaint had been lodged on the Chief Minister of Punjab's portal, alleging that the headmaster's statements in a WhatsApp group had tarnished the reputation of the Punjab government.
