The Sindh education department has decided to keep all educational institutes across the province closed from February 6 to 9 in the lead-up to the general elections, scheduled for February 8.

All private and public schools, colleges, and universities in Sindh will be closed from February 6 to February 9 for the general elections, the education department said.

The notification will be issued after the approval from Sindh Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar.

Earlier, Sindh government had announced a public holiday on February 5 on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared February 8 a public holiday in the country to enable voters to exercise their right to vote conveniently in the General Election 2024.

The polls are set to take place on Thursday (February 8) across the country.
