Sindh government on Tuesday decided to shift inter-bus service terminal outside Karachi, aiming to decrease the traffic pressure across the port city.

Sindh Minister for Transportation Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the development, saying the provincial government would provide the facility to passengers travelling to the bus stand.

“The Transport Department is moving the bus stands out of the city and starting a free shuttle service from the old bus stand to the new from August 14,” he wrote in a post on X.

The government will establish check posts on the way to the bus stand to ensure the safety and security of the passengers.

Shuttle service will start from Cant Station, Sagheer Shaheed Road, MA Jinnah Road, and Alkaram Square, according to the details.

The decision was made in the meeting chaired by the transport minister.

During the meeting, he noted that the residents of Karachi were facing problems due to the heavy vehicles on the roads.

“The step would not harm the transporters, while passengers also get relief,” said Memon.

The Sindh government’s plan came a week after the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) conducted a survey and found that 31 commercial spaces in Karachi were being utilised illegally for parking such vehicles.
