Sindh govt unveils eligibility criteria for free e-scooter scheme for women

The Government of Sindh has announced the eligibility criteria for its newly launched Free Electric Scooty Scheme, aimed at enhancing mobility and independence for women across the province.
Under the initiative led by the Transport and Mass Transit Department, free pink electric scooters will be provided to eligible women through a transparent selection process.
The scheme targets both students and working women and is part of broader efforts to improve women’s access to safe and affordable transportation.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scheme, applicants must:
Be a permanent resident of Sindh
Be either a student or employed woman
Hold a valid motorbike or car driving license
Commit not to sell or sublet the scooty for at least seven years
Pass a road safety skills test if selected through the draw
Training & Support
The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) will provide free training sessions across the province, focusing on riding techniques and road safety measures.
Distribution & Oversight
Scooters will be allocated through a balloting process, monitored by print and electronic media. A committee comprising representatives from the Excise, Transport, Finance, and Media departments will oversee the process to ensure transparency.
