Sindh grants five-year age relaxation for govt job applicants

The Sindh government has raised the upper age limit for government job applicants by five years, from 28 to 33 years. This decision, approved by the Sindh Cabinet, aims to benefit thousands of job seekers who were previously ineligible due to age restrictions.

A notification was issued in this regard, stating that the relaxation formula would not apply to the police and other forces.

Additionally, the announcement confirmed that the decision would be effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. The age limit for all government jobs, except for the CEC exam, will be 33 years.

Following a cabinet meeting, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the decision was made in response to the long-standing recruitment ban on government jobs, which resulted in many eligible candidates exceeding the previous age limit.

This five-year extension is expected to provide relief to qualified professionals and young graduates, ensuring greater access to stable career opportunities within the public sector.

In February, the Sindh Cabinet approved the University Amendment Bill, under which the age limit for obtaining a government job was increased by five years, effectively lifting the ban on government job recruitment in Sindh.

Earlier, the Sindh government had increased the age limit for new employees in the education department by two years, from 28 to 30 years.

According to the Sindh Education Department, this age relaxation applies specifically to new recruitments of monitoring officers and early childhood teachers.

The Sindh Education Department has also issued an official notification formalizing the provincial government’s decision.
