ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, the sister of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has dismissed assertions that Bushra Bibi is assuming control of the party, affirming that Imran Khan remains the sole leader.
In an interview with the Voice of America (VOA), Aleema Khan stated, “There is only one leader, and that is Imran Khan,” while refuting claims regarding Bushra Bibi's influence over the party.
Additionally, Aleema Khan rejected allegations made by Mashal Yousafzai, an aide to Bushra Bibi, concerning her brother's role in the call for a march towards D-Chowk.
She firmly stated, “Mashal Yousafzai is lying,” and clarified that Imran Khan had communicated directives to the party through Salman Akram Raja on November 21, which did not pertain to the D-Chowk protest.
Yousafzai, a close associate of the former First Lady, had previously asserted that Imran Khan had instructed the controversial protest.
She mentioned in a private news channel interview on November 28, “Bushra Bibi was entrusted with a responsibility by Imran Khan, and she acted on his behalf.”
In related news, a Rawalpindi court has granted physical remand for individuals detained during the PTI protest.
The protest march, which commenced on November 24 and concluded abruptly on November 26, was marked by violent confrontations between PTI supporters and security forces, resulting in several casualties and injuries, including among law enforcement personnel.
