According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the center of the deep depression is moving into the Arabian Sea, bringing winds of 30 to 45 kmp/h to various areas of Karachi.
The strong winds have caused trees to fall in multiple locations, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 10, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Stadium Road in the port city.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson reported that a tree fell along with an electric pole in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 17, blocking the road for traffic.
Additionally, trees fell on the New Sindh Secretariat and Custom House, causing further disruptions.
The severe weather conditions have prompted authorities to take necessary precautions. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary movements during the cyclonic storm's prediction.
A deep depression over the Rann of Kutch, India, is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next 12 hours, the weather department said.
PMD warned of widespread rain and wind thunderstorms, with scattered heavy to extremely heavy falls, expected in various districts of Sindh, including Karachi, till August 31.
