The Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD) on Friday issued a fresh weather advisory for heatwave-hit Karachi.

Chief Meteorologist Department Sardar Sarfaraz said that the port city is likely to get respite from hot weather after July 21.

He attributed the searing temperatures to the low-pressure air and suspended sea breeze in the metropolis.

“Sea breeze partially restored in the city, but under the influence of atmospheric pressure, it would not fully restore,” said Sarfaraz.

“However, the sea breeze would be fully restored until July 21, which would decrease the temperature,” the weatherman added.

The met office predicted drizzling and light rain in the outskirt areas of Karachi today.

According to the Met office, several parts of Sindh, including Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Karachi, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar likely to receive showers and thunderstorms during the night on Saturday (July 20).

It's pertinent to mention here that the port city has been reeling from the extremely hot weather for three days.

On Wednesday, almost 250 mourners fell unconscious due to a heatwave during the Ashura procession.

A day earlier, over 20 dead bodies were found from the different areas of the metropolis.

Rescue officials said that the deaths occurred due to the searing temperatures.
