Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Jr, a well-known social activist and human rights advocate, has formally announced his entry into politics, expressing his intention to lead the Shaheed Bhutto faction of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP-SB).

In a televised interview, Bhutto Jr strongly opposed the proposed construction of six new canals, warning that the project posed a serious threat to Sindh’s survival.

He argued that a depletion of water resources would not only endanger human lives but also devastate wildlife and aquatic ecosystems, terming the initiative a form of cultural genocide.

He further claimed that mounting public opposition had compelled authorities to reconsider their stance on the project.

Confirming his political aspirations, Bhutto Jr recalled making the announcement in Naudero, where he vowed to carry forward the vision of his father, who originally founded the PPP-SB.

He said the need for fresh leadership and greater political engagement from the country’s youth, stating that many young Pakistanis feel politically abandoned and lack the necessary guidance and organization to make a meaningful impact.

While acknowledging that he still has much to learn, Bhutto Jr expressed his commitment to understanding the country’s political landscape and preparing himself for leadership. His decision to enter politics signals a new chapter in the Bhutto family's enduring political legacy.
