Internet fully functional in Pakistan with all apps running smoothly, claims IT minister

Islamabad: The Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, has stated that the internet in the country is fully functional and all mobile apps, including WhatsApp, are operating without any issues.
During the question hour in the National Assembly, PPP member Shazia Mari asked when the internet problem in Pakistan would be resolved.
In response, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that the internet is fully functional in the country at the moment, and all mobile apps, including WhatsApp, are running smoothly.
Shaza Fatima added that the government is in contact with all stakeholders and mentioned that IT growth in the country has increased by 28% this year, with exports in the IT sector amounting to $1.8 billion.
The Minister further stated that work is underway on upgrading the submarine cable, and the cable connectivity will allow all internet data from Central Asia and China to pass through Pakistan.
She also revealed that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially started IP registration, with VPN and IP registrations being done free of charge.
So far, more than 31,000 VPNs have been registered for companies and freelancers.
