Pakistan will mark the summer solstice today (June 21), the longest day and shortest night of the year.

According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, Islamabad will experience a 14-hour and 32-minute long day, while the night will last for 9 hours and 28 minutes in the federal capital.

In Karachi, the day will be 13 hours and 41 minutes long, with a night duration of 10 hours and 19 minutes.

The weatherman further explained that after July 1, the length of the day will gradually decrease, with December 22 being the shortest day and longest night of the year.

The phenomenon occurs when the Earth's axis is tilted at its maximum angle of 23.5 degrees towards the Sun, resulting in the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

On the other hand, stargazers will also witness the "Strawberry Moon", which is set to rise today to officially mark the beginning of summer.

The Strawberry Moon is set to reach its fullest phase at 9:07pm Eastern time on Friday.
