WhatsApp introduces musical feature for status updates

WhatsApp is introducing a new musical feature for status updates, enhancing the app's interactivity for users. Currently in the beta phase, the feature allows users to add music to their status updates, similar to Instagram's music story sharing functionality.

Spotted in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.25.2.5 version, the new tool enables users to search for and share songs, artists, or trending tracks directly in their status updates. A music icon has been added to the drawing editor, which, when tapped, allows users to search for their preferred songs.

After selecting a track, users can choose a 15-second clip to accompany a picture-based status, while the duration for video statuses will vary depending on the length of the video.

Once shared, the song will appear alongside the image or video on the user's status. Viewers can tap on the song to be redirected to the artist’s Instagram profile.

The feature is currently available to a limited number of beta testers but is expected to be released to all users in a future stable version.
