12-year-old girl raped by her neighbour in Karachi

In a heartwrenching incident, a 12-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in Karachi's Surjani area, sources said on Thursday.

According to the informers, the incident took place in Lyari Taiser town area of the metropolis on July 16.

The sources, quoting the victim girl, said that the suspect forcibly took the minor girl into his house and sexually assaulted her after intoxicating her.

A case was registered against the suspect on the complaint of the victim girl's mother under Section 376, pertaining to rape.

The police handed over a medical letter to the family and sent them to the government hospital for a medical examination of the girl. 

The medical examination was performed by the female medico-legal officer (MLO) in the hospital.

However, the suspect was arrested by the police and the law enforcers will take further action after the medical report.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar took notice of the incident and sought details from SSP West.
