12-year-old raped, murdered and then dumped in garbage in Karachi

The body of a 12-year-old girl, who was raped by an unknown man, was found dumped in the garbage in Karachi's Saddar area on Sunday.

Police said the body of the victim girl was packed in a gunny bag, which was found in the garbage near Lucky Star area.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed confirmed, citing the initial post-mortem report, that the minor girl was raped.

Dr Syed said that the cause of the death will be ascertained after the reports of serology, DNA, and intoxication tests.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza said the girl looked like a "destitute girl from her appearance". 

Raza informed that the victim girl had come to Karachi from Sukkur many years ago to take care of an ailing relative.

The police high-official further said that the girl was living under the Lilly Bridge in Cantt and had gone to a nearby restaurant to get some free food.

However, a case was registered on the complaint of the victim girl's mother and eight suspects were arrested by the law enforcers.

DNA samples of all eight suspects were sent to JPMC, Raza added.

He said CCTV footage obtained from the crime scene at Lucky Star showed that a bike rider came and left her body.

Following the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
