15-year-old missing girl from Karachi found in Naushahro Feroze

A 15-year-old girl, Zehra Batool, who went missing from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5 in Karachi on January 16, has been recovered from Naushahro Feroze during a police raid.

Police sources confirmed that the girl was found during the operation, and the suspect named in the case was also apprehended.

According to the Gulshan-e-Iqbal investigation police, the family of the missing girl had lodged a kidnapping case against the suspect.

The accused, reportedly a security guard in the girl’s neighborhood, was taken into custody. During the initial investigation, the girl claimed that she had left of her own accord.

The Gulshan-e-Iqbal investigation team is now en route to Karachi with the girl and the suspect.

On January 16th, Zehra left a majlis to return home but never arrived. While speaking to Dialogue Pakistan, her father alleged that Azhar Ali, a security guard with whom he had a prior altercation over a local issue, was responsible for her disappearance. 

The dispute had reportedly escalated to the point where Mr. Abidi complained to the guard’s employer, leading to Azhar Ali’s termination.

According to Mr. Abidi, days after Zehra went missing, another guard informed him that Azhar Ali had allegedly abducted his daughter. The accused reportedly threatened the father, saying, “Do whatever you want.”

Since the beginning of January, Karachi has witnessed a surge in crime, particularly a rise in child kidnapping cases. Six children went missing in the port city, three of whom were recovered by the police, while two remain missing.

Meanwhile, Karachi police have yet to identify the culprit in the murder case of 7-year-old Sarim, who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted before being killed in North Karachi.
