3-year-old girl raped, murdered in Karachi

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 3-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, raped and murdered in Karachi, it emerged on Wednesday.

According to rescue officials, Amina Abdul Basit's lifeless body was found in the street at FB Area Block 11. 

The police reported that the young girl had followed her siblings to school in the morning. Later, she was found dead a short distance from her residence at 7:30am.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Zeeshan Siddiqui, citing preliminary investigations, said that the girl was strangled to death.

Unfortunately, the absence of CCTV cameras in the area hinders the investigation, he added.

SSP Siddiqui assured that the police are exploring alternative leads to arrest the culprit involved in the heinous crime.

"We are investigating from other aspects and working tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrator."

Amina was the youngest of six siblings, and her father is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. 

The police confirmed that the post-mortem examination revealed evidence of rape and strangulation.

"We will leave no stone unturned in bringing the culprit to justice," the police high-official vowed.
