7-year-old minor girl raped in Karachi

In yet another incident of child sexual abuse, a 7-year-old girl was raped by an unknown man in Karachi, police said on Tuesday.

According to details, the distressing incident took place in the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazar police station in Orangi town.

The case was registered against the unknown suspect on the complaint of the victim's grandfather.

Police said the minor girl is a resident of Orangi's slum Sector 16 Etihad Colony and had left her home to play at 4pm on Monday.

The victim's mother said that she returned home crying at 5m, after which she was rushed to the National Institute of Pediatrics for medical assistance.

Later, she was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that the medical examination confirmed that the girl was raped. 

She said that DNA samples had been taken for cross-matching.

However, the girl is in stable condition and police are conducting raids to arrest the culprit behind the heinous crime.
