A social media post recently brought attention to a harrowing account of domestic violence in Rawalpindi.

An 'X' user shared a note of an anonymous girl, who urged the police to take action against her paternal uncle for allegedly beating up her mother.

"With a heavy heart & keeping all my self-respect aside, I am posting this. My own Chacho has beaten my mother, fractured her nose, & attacked her eyes,", read the note.

"In the presence of his young brother & mother (my other chacho and dado), no one helped. It's been four days. We have tried everything we could but can't register an FIR due to their political influence in the Police station. I have 3 brothers, & all of them have night duties in the call centre.

My mother is an asthmatic & epilepsy patient, and this is a clear case of attempted murder. I am begging for help."

As the post promptly went viral, Rawalpindi police took notice of it, assuring legal action. They urged the X user to share the contact and address of the complainant, saying, "matter will be checked and necessary action as per merit is to be ensured."
